OK..after dinner stats...101lbs exactly. 25 individual pieces of brazilian steatite industrial soapstone, 57 pieces of black iron ,79 pieces of brass not incl the chain...all of the brass buttons on the wheels are antique automotive brake lining rivits, the pomiglion aka trigger lathe turned from an old 1and1/4 inch brass boat shaft. hollow stainless "cannon ball" stair rail finial from florida..tires 6.0L ford diesel serpentine belt . Wheels are one piece, barrel is nine. I used 5 plexiglas hand cut jigs to measure the tapered cylinder of the barrel.....all done by hand.. I learned to carve as a kid from my father...this one is combination of that with some of my trade thrown in..
I like any type of craftsmanship ... very nice cannon.
The Brazilian soapstone, is it hard to get? Is it better quality than Canadian soapstone?
There is still a functioning steel cannon at my Mom's place (on a shelf, in her bed room actually) that my Dad made. I don't know exactly what size ball bearing it shoots, but it shoots. My Dad and I clamped the barrel into a vice once and fired it through some 1/2" plywood.

Hey Pontiacanada...Sophia...what a doll she was backin the day IMO...The opinions on gals are like the opinions on cars...to each their own. I just love your cannon story! Mine doesn't even shoot BUT it still looks pretty good ! lol. So steatite is an industrial grade stone used for countertops. I managed to get my hands on a bunch. Very hard but not like granite or the like.Brasil produces the best quality stuff imo for this purpose. I like to think outside the box and came up with this...amongst others....you can find these cutoffs for free if you look around.Gotta use diamonds to work it. Now I carve stone in many ways so I'm gonna post pics of an exact dimension 17mm snapon combination wrench out of B.C. stone....yup prospected by me cause I am also an amatuer prospector.....another thread.....
