Not seeing it as scary what so ever. When rebuilding any of the 68 and newer cars that have dash rot it is nice to have the proper rivets available to reattach the vin plate.

It is disconcerting however that they can be used for nefarious reasons.

Wonder if ad was taken down because of questionable tactics or because, as another post suggested, it was for parts and not an entire vehicle.

Totally agree with your first line.

And yes, your second line is why I say scary. I won't ever (again) be investing in a car valuable enough to have had a VIN tag swap, but there's tons of cars out there that would suddenly be worth a lot more if the wrong guy has those 2 rivets at his disposal.
