I say good on those guys who took him down, it does take courage to intervene. We had a terrorist walk down a major street in Toronto murdering people in the summer and nobody did anything. He was walking and shooting for ten minutes all on video like this, to me he could have been taken out easily if someone had had the right stuff.

In this day and age of the internet, people would rather take/post videos than act. How many times has an incident got worse with nobody calling 911 or intervening because they are too busy taking videos.disbelief

I think you guys are missing the obvious. Nobody went after him until the gas can was empty and he chucked it. As easy as he could light a car, he could have lit a pursuer...

As soon as the gas can was gone he was chased down and held. What more do you want?

No, I thought of that but my plan of attack was to gather up 2-3 guys with extinguishers, chase him down and knock the gas can out of his hand. Throw chairs at him, whatever a guy could find.

Keep in mind in this day and age you could be charged if it was deemed you used "excessive force" to bring him down.

You normally hang out at the cafe with your friends that each have extinguishers with them? To save the paint on a KIA?

Sure, I wanted to see the guy stopped, but it was clear from the get go he was disturbed, and had a fairly small can of gas. Best thing was keep people away, call 911 and wait for him to be out of "ammo"...then sit on him if/when the chance comes, and that is pretty much what happened.

I was less concerned for the cars, and more concerned he might light a person on fire.

Yes that was my fear that he would set someone on fire. That's why I figured I'd grab extinguishers from some businesses chase him down and get the can away from him.

Use the extinguisher in his face.

I can say with certainty that if someone was pouring gas on my car standing in front, he would be under the car pretty quick.

Did you see that red escape just sit there..
