Interesting features on the Rivian Electric Pickup

Not sure I can get past the front end styling. Other than that it's quite the versitile truck. 400 mile range (for the high end model) is great for such a vehicle

Great if you live in California, but I'd be surprised if it could do 200 miles in the winter.

There's a fellow here in PEI who has a Tesla Model S. He said the car's range is 80% of it's factory rating in the winter. So 320 miles or 514km (more than the range of many gas powered pickups) is still pretty good.

... but it only takes 5 minutes to be on road again with an internal combustion engine after hitting empty, and driving another 514 kms. immediately. How long does the Tesla take to "refuel"?

Don't get me wrong, I like electric cars, but I think they are practical for trips within a certain range.

If I owned an electric vehicle I'd have a 220v charger hooked up at home and let her go overnight while I'm sleeping. Not many people go 500km in one go.

Yeah, but it sure is funny how so many used cars have so many kms eh? Seems anything older than 5 years has 350k on it. Come to think of it my work HHR puts on 60k a year.

The range is slowly improving , batteries are also getting lighter, smaller and more powerful, once the charging time improves electrics will sell.

When they invent a stationary bicycle that produces electricity while watching TV or using the computer or learn how produce electricity from thumbs on smart phones, we may be able to avoid the taxes we pay on fuel?

There are people doing r and d on combining windmills and solar and batteries to be self contained for electricity needs and off grid. Not sure how the cost benefit analysis will work, may be cheaper to pay the tax?
