Didn't the 3.6 have problems with the VVT setup? Have him go for a CTS-V! I wouldn't mind one of those!

I had to replace my engine for the CTS at 98,000km. Was no easy task for them. Shortly after that, everything started going, abs systems, etc. Finally just ended up trading it in.

it did drive and handle well though. (When there were no issues). Other than that, it was a sweet looking car.

I had an 03 CTS standard. Loved it, but the 1st year European orphan engine worried me. Upgraded to a used 2012 3.6 AWD in 2013 when the Cdn was doing well. (Road trip!). Love it! Not the greatest city mpg but very good on the highway. Great car. No idea re the 2007 though.

A CTS V is a better choice with a proper 8 cylinder engine.

Love the V. However, as a year round driver, I would not go back to a rear wheel drive (which all the Vs of course are.)

Oh man, and after 4 1/2 years with the G8 daily driver, I don't ever want a front wheel drive!

The G8 is a snowplow with winter tires on! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself...

And to get back on the rails, yes, the early 3.6's sometimes had issues.
