Tire Safety and DOT date of manufacture

Ive had kumho once, wasnt impressed. You can rotate those tires side to side by changing them on rims. Friend with a C5 said tires only lasted about 20k.
Tire shop I took my vehicle to would only work on tires up to 10 years old. I had a single axle boat trailer blow both tires within about 20kms of each other and only 100 kms into a trip. They were about 8 years old, had maybe 1000 kms on them and looked like new. Boat weighed about 1200 lbs only and I had stopped after 60 kms into my trip and checked them for air pressure and temp, both fine. One blew about 20 kms later.

My Tacoma winter tires are 2002 Michelin Alpins, just took them off for my summers, may need a new set. I rarely go more than 25 kms from home and speed limit is often 80kph.

Ive converted to almost always having Michelins, I find they are very well made and easily balanced. Just remember, our old radials are still a way better tire than those new bias plies that were 4 inches wide and came as stock on most cars up to about 1975. A flat back then was common every year, I cant remember the last time I had a flat.

These new tire sizes will make it hard to replace a blown tire on a road trip- like your newer vette, there are lots of tire sizes you may have to order in?
