The owner of the 62 409 (in one of the pictures) is a member here, as is the guy checking out the 6 pack Mopar! You have a knack for snapping shots with CP members in it!

Nice stuff, nice to see column shift bench seat 427 and 440 even if they are automatic.

Shorty 59 Chev is a mean thing to do to a 59 2 door post. Nice old beetle and the 62 409 and 64 safari look very original and rare colours.

No, apparently it's a conversion. The young man's dad has been a 60's Impala guy for a long time. I got to know the dad in the early 80's. Seems to me dad still has a pretty nice 62.

I figured so when I looked at that picture. Metal work is all done?

Looks like the '59 was a 4-door as it uses the little 3rd window in the back.  I would guess they shortened the body and frame and then cut and welded the front and rear doors together to create what you see here.

Actually those are the rear doors of the four door sedan that was cut up to make this 59 shorty. Back in the 1970's many 55 56 57 Chevy four door sedans were cut up to make these kind of cars.

Yes the 59 was a 4dr, but was shortened and rear wheel well moved to fit on an 80's Monte Carlo  chassis. He has quite the photo album of the conversion, did it all himself.

The reason I think that he welded bits of the front and rear doors together is that this door appears longer (more like a 2-door) and it doesn't have the cut out to go around the rear wheel.  Yet, the rear part of the sash is from the rear door to follow the roofline and window shape.  At the same time it maintains the vent window and sash to match the A-pillar shape.

Sounds like quite a job, especially fitting it to the Monte Carlo chassis.  Neat!
