I know, I know... it's a Pinto


...but, purely for the spectacle of when was the last time you've seen one of these in this condition...

Survivor, mint condition Pinto. All original inside and out. 2lt, C4 auto original exhaust (except muffler), have original tire/rims. New brakes front/back, rear shocks, all new belts/hoses etc etc. Never winter driven or in the rain. Have spare parts as well. serious inquiries only. NO DREAMERS, TIRE KICKERS or LOW BALLERS. 92,000 km.  Sign says 57,000 mi.

But you're probably right that it came from the south, or somewhere less rust-prone.  The reason I haven't seen one in a long time is that they all rusted away here... or went up in a fireball...

my bad, for some reason my brain saw miles ,not kms.

Not even some minor rust around bolts......43,000 miles on my 63 and it's not as clean.

Great daily driver for the price......should get 5 years out of it before it rusts out.

The last Pinto rolled off the production line on August 9, 1980. It was the 935,789th Pinto produced by St. Thomas Ontario, Ford Assembly Plant.

The last car was actually a Mercury Bobcat

I've noticed often on kijiji sellers post number of miles in the km section without the conversion, so it's an easy mistake to make.

Just look how nice and clean the spot welds are on the rocker flange.   Hard to believe how clean it looks.

 I can't believe I'm talking about Pintos, but the early ones with the small bumpers were the best looking of the bunch, IMHO.

 I agree. My cousin bought a 1971 Vega new and it had three replacement engines under warranty due to oil burning. He traded it in after the third engine.

The Pinto engines were better than the Vega for sure, but they still sucked. I had a couple of friends with Pintos.

 I wonder if it has the plastic liner on the gas tank. The recall was a plastic liner that slid under the gas tank straps so if the car was rear ended, there was no metal to metal contact when the gas tank got crushed into the rear axle. The idea was no spark, no BOOM!

 Yes, the top of the gas tank was the trunk floor! More than once a guy that I knew punctured the top of the tank by throwing stuff in the trunk.

I liked the early Vega styling better as well.  I wonder if there are any left with their original engines?  Seems like the only ones I see now are V8 conversions.

The only Vega I ever drove felt like a piece of junk, though.  I was looking at buying it as a used car, it had low mileage and didn't smoke (yet), but everything on it just felt loose, clunky, poorly built - like the whole car was just about to fall apart - so I passed on it.

Never owned a Pinto, but a buddy did.  He tortured that car and it kept coming back for more.

Interesting comparison, Darryl. I have never had any use nor love for Camaros but I know what you mean. As a life long owner and lover of Mustangs, I suspect that I do see a resemblance between the Pintos and Mustangs and that is likely why I liked them over the Vegas. It is all good

Back in the mid seventies there was an engine rebuilder in Toronto that we dealt with and they would bore the aluminum block and install cast iron sleeves. I seem to remember that the piston rings were also different as the oem rings wouldnt seat on the cast iron liners. The engines were very good after having been sleeved
