Spotted in South winnipeg -1974 Ventura ( how would it compare to a 1974 GTO?)

Spotted this on the way home yesterday -

Aside from not having the shaker hood how would this differ from the GTO?

The 1974 GTO was a Ventura option, not a GTO line on its own anymore, came with Pontiac 350 and on the Ventura you could have a smaller engine, not sure if they had choices of Chevy motor ?

In my opinion the nicest looking Pontiac for 1974. And Im not a big X body fan.

In the mid 1970s I had a part time high school job as a car jockey at my uncle's Chrysler dealership - they took a 1973 Ventura coupe in on trade - it had a 4 speed and a V8 in it - I think it was called a Sprint

That car actually has a 74 GTO grille and bumper. parking lamps are in the bumper on a regular Ventura.

The GTO also had some equipment that you could not obtain on a Ventura or a Ventura Sprint.

The GTO 350 4bbl with Duals was rated at 200 HP while a regular Ventura could have a 350 2bbl rated at 155 HP.

Three speed heavy duty floor shift was a GTO standard as was a 3.08 axle and large front and rear stabilizer bars with firm rated shocks, these things not available on regular Ventura.

Pontiac played around with the Ventura as early as 1971/72 before releasing the GTO on this platform, the Formula X prototype never made production:

 Here is my recollection of Canadian market cars: 71 -73 Chevrolet engines 250 6, 307 V8 and 350 V8 (very rare option); 74 Chevy 250 6 and Pontiac 350 2bbl and 4 bbl: 75-76 250 6, 260 Olds V8 and 350 Buick: 77 250 6, 231 V6 and 305 Chevy.  OF course I stand to be corrected.
