Knock Off or Cheap REPRO Parts

Hey everyone.

Check out this picture.

It is a Knock off power brake booster. (made overseas somewhere)

Can you imagine that being in YOUR car, that you have spent thousands of dollars, and countless hours building??

I can.

That POS was in my car.

On Sunday June 9th i drove to a All Pontiac Show n Shine in Langley BC. Down Hiway 1 at 60 maybe 70 mph (yes MPH). Then idled through heavy morning traffic to get to the show.

As i was backing up, with a spotter, foot on brakes, KABOOM!, foot to the floor rolling backwards at idle speed.

The spotter was in between my car and the car behind.

A MAN, A FELLOW PONTIAC CAR  ENTHUSIAST, A HUSBAND, A FATHER WAS HURT BECAUSE OF THIS CRAP ON MY CAR.

Not to mention my precious little baby girl in the back seat.

So ever fortunate of my reaction when it blew, The spotters physical condition, and somebody else watching over us that day, Brian was not seriously hurt and was roaming around the show all day.

My message is simple.

I know how much our parts cost and how fast they add up. If we can save a few bucks here and there, why not??

For safety sake, Any part that is directly related to safety features (BRAKES) PLEASE BUY ONLY NAME BRAND AND TESTED AND TRUSTED PARTS!

A lot of peoples lives were put at risk because of this.

This part came from my friends 70 SS Nova. It was a full rotisserie restoration. Everything was top notch. Except the builders cheaped out on the brake system. And we did not even notice ourselves.

Thanks for letting me rant.

S A F E Driving to everyone!

Wow. Glad everyone is safe.

Brakes are VERY important!

A dealership here on PEI (which I do not deal with anymore) "spliced" a section of brake line on my weekly driver. They told me it needed replacing because of corrosion, so I thought they would replace the COMPLETE line.

I ended up having the pedal go to the floor after picking it up. Luckily, I was only a few blocks from the dealership, so I managed to limp it back. Boy, was I PO'd and I let them know it.furious
