Got rad in hose on hooked up tranny lines started engine leaking very bad at tranny lines. Does it make a different if I use steal fitting on the alum rad maybe that's way it's leaking Any ideas it's leaking right at the fittings on rad

The flare on the lines might be too far flattened to accept the new female fitting in the rad. Back them off and try to really tighten them up. I had the same issue in my 67 with the aluminum rad. Thought I had them tight..just not tight enough.

If that fails you might need to cut the lines and re flare the ends, if you can find a little more length in the bends somewhere. Or a new short length unioned into the insisting.

I put in a4inch extension from my rad then union fitting to the original fittings.

i used double flares on them what if I put tape on the end of the nuts that go into thr rad. Like plummers tape the white stuff.

Teflon tape won't help in a flare fitting.

One trick I always used on new flare fittings was to put a drop of oil on the flare and nut before tightening. Seems to allow the flare to stay stationary on the seat, while allowing only the nut to turn. Prevents the flare following the nut.
