Indeed Pontiac was the big dog in those years, remember the trumped up 421 64 GTO Jim Wangers pawned off as stock to the Motor Trend guys to introduce the GTO to the world out performing the Ferrari 250 GTO . Sheer marketing deception which clearly fooled the Motor Trend experts and car buying public.

Great story...the Lemans lapped the Ferrari 250 GTO eight times! Looks like the Ferrari 250 GTO, however, has lapped the Ferraris price well over 900 times! Crazy!!

The Ferrari 250 GTO, which recently went for a record-breaking $48.4 million at RM Sothebys Monterey auction last August, is worth more than its own weight in gold. Its one of the most iconic pieces of automotive collector culture and an Italian court has just officially recognized it as a work of art.
