Awesome!

I recall waiting for the Bargain Hunter (where the really good deals could be had) to come out each week. I even recall finding out which stores received their deliveries first and trying to get out to get one before the good deals were bought up (rarely ever worked out that way).

Then came the internet... always check kijiji (craigslist not so popular on the east coast) for that 'just right' deal... then usually think about it and decide against it, and watch it disappear... (lol).

Haven't moved to facebook yet, as I don't tend to gravitate towards social media of any type.  I did look it up a while ago and couldn't figure out the search feature... I put in the criteria (pre-1975) but most of the vehicles that appeared did not adhere to that criteria for some reason.  Oh well, I'll figure it out someday.  Currently I don't have time/energy to throw an old car into my life anyhow - too many other 'jobs' that have to be done first...

Don't recall Bargain Hunter but I only started looking maybe 1986, 87 and on.  It's funny how certain sites are more regional, I understand CL started in San Fran CA so I guess more of a West Coast thing?   Funny you mention the "think about it and decide against...then it's gone" comment, I've done that more times than I can count! LOL.

FB seems to 'learn' your interests so pretty much only car/motorcycle stuff comes up for me, lots of good closed car sites too, but fairly easy to access/see so I'm a little more guarded about what I post since it's still a pretty public forum....

I have little time for the car too in the grand scheme of things....I just like knowing it's waiting for me in the garage if I want to go out there and just poke around... pretending I know what I'm doing....LOL

The Bargain Hunter was probably an east coast thing.  I can recall when I traveled to other places there was some other local 'for sale ad' paper in the stores.  Also used to check the classified section in the local newspaper, but that has pretty much dried up by now.  Don't even check it anymore.

In Ontario it was The Triad and it seemed to me all the good cars were in Grimsby.

the Tri Ad was the most successful ad publication for us at NOS. Then the Auto Trader  bought it: changed the format and over a short time closed the doors.
