That is nice.  Black with blue guts is a nice combo.  I wonder if any cosmetic restoration has been done as the engine paint looks too fresh to be original - would it have had "Pontiac" decals on the valve covers?

On a side note, I don't recall ever seeing a fasten seatbelt sign like this.  It says "Dupont nylon for greatest safety"... does not look factory (nor is it applied parallel to the trim), but I'm wondering where it came from.  In another thread it had been determined that seat belt mounts were built into these cars, but IIRC the belts were an option?  Wondering if this badge was part of an aftermarket or dealer installed seat belt package... because I wonder about stupid little things like this... confuse

Looks like a reasonable price for a low mile original... it would look good with whitewalls (my 20 year old inner self can't believe that I just wrote that... biggrin), but I understand they are getting hard to find.

Good points, Mark. I agree with you regarding the seat belt stick on. It is definitely not original; it looks aftermarket and does not suit the dash, something one would find at a Dollar Store. I was also wondering about the gas pedal and the brake pedal. I have never seen these on a '64 Pontiac either. My '64 CS came with factory seat belts in the front. The positions for the rears were factory marked as I found out when I added rear seat belts for safety sake and for our grandchildren. As far as the tires are concerned, I could not agree with you more. The black walls look homely with the spinner hubcaps. I do agree that white walls would give this car some class, not too wide though; maybe just an inch or so of white. Personally, I would never face the black walls out, even on a cheap model. I would purchase some BFG 14 inch tires with white lettering and definitely face the letters out. This black car needs some contrast. I was also wondering about the rear antenna. Mine, too, is on the driver's side rear, but I put it there about 40 years ago. I got rid of the factory antenna on the passenger side front when I had my car painted because I did not like the look. I believe the factory installed ones are on the passenger's side, but I could be incorrect. Notice that this CS does not have a front antenna. Maybe that is why there is the rear antenna. There is something about the trunk picture that has me perplexed. I realize there are mats, but the sides look different, almost as though they are boxed in. Maybe it is just shadows. I am totally envious of the end caps on the rocker mouldings, in front of and behind the rear wheels. As far as '64 Pontiacs go, it is definitely one of the finer examples of a CS. One could not build one this nice for well over double the asking price.

Thanks for your commentary.  It's always interesting to hear the thoughts of somebody who owns one.

A couple thoughts:  I wouldn't have payed the seatbelt badge any attention at all if it didn't have the Dupont name on it.  Might have been a promotional piece from Dupont, I'm thinking.

FWIW, the '60 Bel Air I used to have was originally not equipped with a radio but somewhere along the line one was installed and a rear mounted antenna was on it when I bought it.

I hadn't picked up on any trunk issues, but I have never owned one of these and am not all that familiar with the layout.

LOL... you car looks great with them!

It really just comes down to personal preference, and everybody has a different idea about it.

The reason I mentioned it, is that the car is being sold as a low mileage original car, so I expected to see whitewalls on it.  Of course they aren't the original tires, but it's just my tastes.

It is funny that I would prefer whitewalls on that car as I used to hate them when I was younger, but I guess now that I'm older and more conservative, I like 'old man' stuff... lol.

Actually, I am a little particular on what I like for tires and wheels.  In my perfect world:

- Full wheel cover cars must have whitewall tires.

- Steel wheels with dog dish caps must have blackwall tires.

- Rally wheels and factory 'mag' wheels need redlines or white letters.

- Aluminum wheels and aftermarket 'mag' wheels need blackwalls.

... and in some cases, like on a full size car, rally wheels and whitewalls are OK...

See?  I'm nuts!  biggrin

MC, you are quite correct about personal preferences. I do believe that color can play a role in this topic too. I just happen to like a little contrast or, as in the case of my '64, my white lettered tires complement my white top. Indeed, it is all good.

Might I say again that your car is beautiful!  Love the colour combo and of course it's a 4-speed...

Yeah, I have all kinds of idiosyncrasies when it comes to what particular details I like on cars.  Just like everybody else has.  That's part of what makes the hobby fun and interesting IMHO.

I do like that look brian ..only thing I dislike about my 64 with caps is it looks too old for me haha,,white lettering and white top kinda sports it up ..for now !! if I ever get back to work again on my 64 I want to see how the ralley rims from my 69 looks, but they need a lot of cleaning up ,paint ect

I think back passenger side is correct for an original rear antenna and full wheel covers had whitewalls, 1 inch wide after a1960. My 63 convertible parts car had original gm factory seatbelts, Ill have to check the tags. Nice car.
