In the mid to late 60's a bunch of us at Gorries in Toronto all had Corvettes and drove them year round.

I remember putting snow tires on my 63 Coupe (they didn't call them split window yet), no one had a winter beater.

Used to drive to friend's cottages on Simcoe regularly in snow storms and ice with the odd excursion

toward a ditch or two.........smile

In 1968 when I bought my new Vette I put studs in the snows for winter 69/70 and then Ontario banned them.

I remember when I was a kid seeing a blue '63 - '67 Vette convertible out in the winter with studded tires on it.  I remember being impressed that the rear tires had missing studs, thinking it was from doing burnouts!  biggrin

It's funny how something that was so normal back then seems almost unthinkable now.

Thanks for posting that, Todd.  It's that kind of thing that could put the mojo back into the hobby for me.  Just drive the darn thing!  Awesome!

Thanks for sharing, such a great feel good story. It's a different compilation of memories for each of us, but reminds me of that intangible feeling I'm sure we all have driving these ole cars.

Nice piece.

I get it now that I am a Corvette owner, even though mine is only 26 years old, I drive it top down to my downtown Toronto office everyday, I take it to get milk or other errands and just take it for drives....and mine is loud too, the only way a Corvette should be.
