Parisienne for sale

VERY ripe car. Looks to have a hood tach, and it's a 2 door hardtop

I'm curious about the hood tach.  Usually I'd expect it to be added somewhere in the car's life when somebody decides to hot rod it up.

In this case, I'm wondering if it was a dealer installed option because...

1) It looks like it's been on the car for a long time.

2) The car looks like it has been sitting there a long time - i.e. the trees have grown up around it.

3) The car still has full wheel covers on it - doesn't look like it was ever hot rodded.

Anybody ever see one of these added at the dealer?  A friend of mine had one on a Mopar that he bought years ago - a '70 Dart 340 that he bought from the original owner, who had the hood tach installed by the dealer when it was new.  IIRC, that tach was a Mopar accessory, not Pontiac.

You'd think the tach would have been closer to the windshield. Could very well have been dealer installed (or a "day 2" installation by the original owner). No in dash tach was available. Maybe there's a 427/4speed lurking in there!

Seems like Pontiac liked their hoods back then, I'd say the tach was optional.

Yeah, I'd say so Ray.  On this sheet it doesn't mention full size cars, but it would have been just as easy for the dealer to order one in and install it on a big Pontiac...

I'd say as an accessory but not optional ever on the Canadian Pontiac B body I didn't think.

For '67 and '68, it states a hood tach is possible, depending on the asterisk! But nothing stated for '69, although the window is partially left open....

The hood tach is to high (tall) to be a 68 later GM version. It could be a 67 or 66 but Im guessing an aftermarket like the poplar dixco.

Funny...same thing I noticed.   Don't think anything left of the underside.....  Topside looks to be the same....

Ever notice the front (and sometime rear) bumpers seem to hold up well on the 69's? Must have been a good chroming process that year.
