Suspicion confirmed

Took off on a trip to St Catherine's on Sunday and was caught in 3 lane closure of the 401 westbound. Traffic stopped for quite a few minutes as there were multiple vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances etc.

I last year had put in a 3 core rad but with the addition of the air conditioning I kept seeing the occasional rise in temps.

Normal operating range

Oh my gosh...

 Hot Temp guage 20190721_101527[1].jpg

A fan has been ordered to put in front of the rad.  I wont have to keep checking that @@@$$$ temp guage.

Photos taken while stopped in traffic!

On our way to the POCI show in California in June 2006 there was a fatality accident on the I15 through Las Vegas. Traffic was diverted onto a secondary highway, and we were sitting in traffic for over an hour. My temperature gauge wrapped right around to the stopper. It didn't seem to bother the engine though, thankfully.

I love that your gauges are still in Fahrenheit. Thanks to Saharan air we could see 98 degrees tomorrow. Annoys the hell out of my wife whenever I talk in old units. Now, after the 31st of October, if only we could buy fuel in gallons again! (Imperial gallons of course)

I got stuck in traffic with my 283 and it really cooked the engine ..... blown head gaskets, antifreeze in the oil... that was a sweet engine.  So I am a nervous nelly when I see that guage rising.

Replaced it with a 350 then added the a/c

I had put an auxiliary pusher fan in front of my rad to help the fibreglass fan I had. Helped a little but I wasnt satisfied. Then I bought a larger flex fan and it run hotter. Then I removed the pusher fan and it run cooler. It seamed that with the larger diameter fan the pusher fan just acted like putting a cardboard in front. Right now Im trying a three row aluminum rad borrowed from a fellow CP member with my flex fan and its running 20 degrees cooler. If I could somehow mount my shroud back Id be happy. Ive been checking dimensions of these aluminum rads and they all seam wider so my shroud wont fit.  Anyhow what Im saying is be careful on installing a pusher fan. You may not gain and may even loose.

My shop just used a sheet of aluminum to form the shroud. PM me your email and I can post some photos for you. Cliff
