New Ride.........1965 Grand Prix

Hey everyone

Just thought I'd post this up...something a bit different and not so common north of the border.

1965 Grand Prix.......power everything, 389-4, great shape overall. All numbers matching and have the build sheet too which is pretty cool. Needs some attention, but will get it sorted out over the winter.

Looks pretty cool from over here on west coast.
Kinda wish we still had a lot more drive in theatres.
Brings back some great memories.
Have fun and enjoy the ride

Ken

That is a nice looking car! Always liked that roofline on the 65 and full rear taillight bezel treatment. I built an AMT model of one as a kid, still have it.

I know of where there is a '63 Grand Prix-loaded with dash tach probably for sale. Original 389 never been out of the hole with 8 lug wheels. Was painted in the '90's black but could use another as the owner put a big blue tarp over it and over the course of close to 20 years the wind took it's toll on said paint job. Too bad as it looked real sharp when is was fresh. The goal was to put a 4 speed in it. Could never find any pedals though. He also has a '63 Bonneville from south of the border that looks sharp. Also anybody know of where to acquire a 4 speed auto from a '63 American B body? I have a buddy that is in need of one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.......

Bunkie Knudson, Pontiac Boss at the time, ordered the creation of the Grand Prix when Pontiac lost out on the personal luxury car that GM brass awarded to Buick, which we all know is the Riviera. Knudson had a gussied up Catalina created and beat Buick to market by one year, releasing the Grand Prix for 1962 and thereby creating Pontiac's own personal Luxury Car. The rest is history I think since the Grand Prix has to be one of the most recognizable and sought after Pontiacs ever. The original Riviera for its part is also highly sought after and won worldwide accolades and acclaim when introduced in the fall of 1962. I always thought that it is fairly easy to see how the Riviera could wear a Pontiac name plate. Internal competition and desire to create sales for a lagging Buick Division carried the day at GM but in the end Pontiac got its personal luxury car anyway.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Finally got around to checking it out all over.......will get some more pics up soon. Everything is all there and really just needs some tlc. Floors are all solid, barely any rust on the car in general which is great! Needs some paint here and there in the engine bay, some wiring upgrades, and a good once over since it's been in storage for the last 10 years....

here are a few quick pics
