This is why we hug our kids every chance we get, and let them know we care.
Man oh man......
Just thankful hes at home safe! We can't be there 24-7 for our kids. But we can bring them up right and hopefully luck is on their side as they grow up. I always told my nephews(before I had kids)...It only takes once in a life time to make a bad decision! Then it's too late.....
Very good decision not to go life can change in a blink. Hold them tight.
I wonder if this was one of those gps errors.

Wow, speechless there Jim. What are the odds? Yes indeed sometimes things just happen for reasons we don't know.
Glad he is home safe. How is James handling all this?
Wow... that hits home. It's a good thing he chose not to go on the trip, and it's a stark reminder that what keeps most of us alive and ticking can come down to just plain luck.
How is your son dealing with the tragedy? He might have a lot to deal with there, with the loss of some of his classmates and the reality that he could have been there with them. I hope he is alright - situations like this can be really hard on a person's mind, and it may not show out until much later. I wish him all the best.

and as usual the locals have been quite noisy about the state of the road to no avail and why the hell were they bussing all those kids into bamfield at night....
I had the same thought Tim. Road is bad enough during daylight hours......little own a dark rainy night! I drive truck for a living and sometimes with the fog and rain you are driving by braille. Could never pack people, because if something like this ever did happen. Also feel for the driver and the guilt he must be going through....
