Too far for me also. I always liked the 348. When I was an apprentice my boss had a 1962 Strato chief safari with a 348 and a three speed. For a big car it was a blast to drive and would pull quite a load on a trailer.

 Technically you can get there with boring and new pistons and the stock 348 parts. But why stop there? If you were spending that money, go bigger or go home? A pump gas  348 can be in the 350-450 hp range and still be streetable.
