I'm typically not an ebay guy, I don't like a lot of what goes on there.
This past week, I needed to do something with the warped brake rotors on our 97 Silverado. I tried machining them on our brake lathe at work but it has a bent shaft (I guess it's junk now) and they were worse when I was done. I checked with our supplier, 85 bucks each for jobber rotors, even more for me to buy Delco rotors through work. This truck is not new any more, 240,000km and piling up the miles fast. I'm too cheap to spend 200 bucks for rotors (by the time I pay the taxes)
I shopped around and found a pair of jobber rotors on ebay for 75 bucks out of Quebec. Love the price but I thought "shipping will kill this deal". I messaged him to get a quote and he replied that he has one shipment a week free (every Tuesday) with Canada Post through his business for October. He had already used up the one for last week but said he would ship this Tuesday (8th). I replied I would buy them and hit "Buy it Now" expecting him to ship them tomorrow. Today I get an email from Canada Post, there's a parcel for me to pick up. I check the tracking number and it's my rotors! What? He said he was only shipping the 8th...
I send him this message-
Denis, did you already send the rotors out last week? I thought you were only going to ship them tomorrow but Canada Post emailed me a notice that they are sitting at the post office in my home town waiting for me to pick them up.
Carl
And he replies-
Hi,when i told you i had free shipping, it was for 5 kilogram or less so it was my mistake so I decide to send it last Tuesday. A deal is a deal, hope you will be happy with that.thanks Denis
This guy paid $55 to send me a pair of 75 dollar rotors and says "my mistake, hope you will be happy"...... You've got to be kidding, happy? THAT is customer service way beyond what a guy can dream of. For the record, his business is carparts911.ca and I want to make sure everyone knows how he does business.
I am thinking I am going to send him something extra because of what he did. Impressive...
