How about freeing up the forum for just one day and hear a few political opinions after the election. I love hearing the heart beat of the country and this result. Just a thought. Think we could live through it.

If Todd says he will I'm game but I can guarantee it will get ugly and there will be some scarred relationships. I've seen it on other forums. It gets personal instantly.

I imagine Todd is sleeping now but he will likely see this early in the morning.

Not that this is forum related but we have neighbours who we have a wonderful relationship with. I know for a fact we completely butt heads when it comes to political preference. I simply avoid the topic when it steers that way because I know if I would let them know how I feel about their choice of party and why I feel that way, we would would not be the friends that we are.

The same thing has happened here in the past.

But as my first line says, if Todd says he's up for it, have at 'er... He and I actually had this discussion just a couple of weeks ago!

A couple things. If you havent got thick skin you shouldnt say anything or else just smile and enjoy the read. Either way we are hoping the sun is going to rise the next day. I think for some people its almost therapy to get it off their chest. I have Trump for my leader for half the year so what can I say.

Agreed. But what happens is guys get personal and call other guys all sorts of names and start throwing sand like 5 year old children. It happened here in the past.

I will admit that I think part of the reason Todd chose to leave the topic off limits was my influence. Actually, I would enjoy it if it politics could be discussed here, if it was done like adults. But I'm afraid that's a dream!

I don't want to lose any members here, we have a great group.

Funny thing is, I know of a couple of guys here who are not local to me but I've met in person and we have become friends, all the while knowing that our political views clash very badly.

If Todd opens it up and it goes south, I get to say "I told you so" !!!  biggrin

I don't think it's a good idea.  You can talk all you want about having a thick skin, but once that line has been crossed it affects your opinions permanently, even if you tell yourself it won't.  Not my call, but I would prefer to keep the conversation about cars.

I'm going to allow it for a few days in a password protected forum. That way only those who wish to take part will and those who don't just won't bother getting the password. I'll PM the password to the forum to Carl (4SPEED427) and Jerel (jmont64) as I will be away most of the day. Simply PM these guys (or myself but keep in mind I won't be on the site much today) for the password.

The only thing that concerns me is the colour distribution on the map of Canada after seeing the election results. I also believe that this forum isnt the place to discuss which party is right and other such stuff.

As much as I love politics, this is not the venue to discuss the election.

Nothing spoken here will change the results, but it may change the comradery on the site.

I suggest if you need to talk politics, venture off to a political site.

Yes, I think I will lock this now. Any further discussion needs to move to the password protected topic.

I'll tell you what. Since this is a democracy, how about I post a poll asking whether we should have it or not?
