Congrats on 6 months. My dad was an alcoholic and smoked a pack or 2 a day. Quit drinking cold turkey jan 1-57, quit smoking jan 1-67, never had a drink or a smoke again. In 1985 a friend asked him which he missed most, he said he could light up a smoke right then.
With all the nicotine in vaping products and all the young people using them, the addiction part of nicotine is really bad.
You decided to quit, thats what counts for you- keep up the good work. Dad took up eating chocolate.

I know a guy who smokes two packs a day and between him and his wife a case of 36 Bud cans a day. To you guys who have recently smoked and bought a case of beer, how much would that be a month? I assume enough to have a nice mortgage?
Thanks for all the votes of confidence!! Worst part is reaching in my pocket for my lighter!!!!!! Went to light the torch..nothing, went to heat some shrink tube...nothing!! Maybe I'll just pack around a lighter. No bank fund Jerel...... paying for property and machines. Funny...after 37 years,it hasn't bothered me that much? Wife still smokes and so do guys I work with and customers. Maybe It's just my time.... Will look back at this thread a year from now and see how I've done! All your input helps keep me motivated!! Thanks!

Well, just over a year and glad to say.....still a non smoker! Still can't jog a mile or afford a Ferrari...but easier to blow and start a camp fire!
Don't even really think about it Carl. My wife still smokes...but it doesn't even bother me! I was the last guy on the planet that thought he could quit. Right behind my dad that smokes 2 pacs a day a quit cold turkey at 70.. Other than family this is probably one of the most proud things I've done. Determination to build a car last a year or two (and yes another addiction!) but to do something every 15 minutes of your life for 35 years and then stop. Well...just never thought I had it in me.....
Here's what the Government of Canada has to say about the real benefits of not smoking:
You will start seeing health benefits soon after you smoke your last cigarette.
After quitting, within:
20 minutes - your blood pressure drops to a level similar to what it was before your last cigarette.
8 hours - the level of carbon monoxide (a toxic gas) in your blood drops to normal.
24 hours - your risk of having a heart attack starts to drop
2 weeks to 3 months - the airways in your lungs relax and you can get more air into your lungs and breathe easier
1 to 9 months - you cough less and your lungs work even better.
1 year - your added risk of coronary heart disease is half than that of a smokers
5 years - you have the same chance of having a stroke as a non-smoker
10 Years - your chance of dying from lung cancer is much lower. So is your chance of getting cancer in your mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and/or pancreas
15 Years - your risk of coronary heart disease is similar to that of a non-smoker
Congratulations, awesome accomplishment! I never did smoke but my mom quit cold turkey after 30+ years, best thing she ever did. Stay strong the hardest part is over!
