Awesome!  I think your paint guy has progressed pretty quickly!  I've heard of cars being stuck in paint jail for literally years...

Here is some colour biggrin

Engine is all dressed up and ready to go.

001a.jpg002a.jpg

The blue wires will be replaced once the AC Delco ones arrive.

Exhaust manifolds are painted with "Cast Blast"

The new motor mounts are not exactly the same, hopefully they will work.

I still may add a new fuel pump.

Today I degreased the front frame and gave it a good coating of flat black.

That was planned However,

This wasn't.

004a.jpg

001a.jpg

This has to be the last ghost !

I got a call Tuesday, the driver's side dash/cowl panel had a hole.

the patch needed to be the size of a playing card.

I was so worried that it would have been bigger.

I have had a Canadian Poncho Toolbox sticker in that corner for years.

003a.jpg

As for the windshield, she is pitted and wiper scratched so I decided to put new glass in.

The engine goes back in Sunday moring.

And this is where things will go dark for a while.

I have chosen a different path for the colour.

Red is out.

I think it would be best explained once the car is all back together.

So,

I get the car back March 9th,

I have a care package being sent to me sometime later this spring from Jerel.

Once the car is all back together we will see what you think biggrin

Finished installing the engine today.

Driveshaft, linkage and all the other nuts and bolts.

Installed the new wiper motor, the newly painted heater box and blower.

It's so nice to have the ratchet set to "on"

To speed up the job,

I ran the wheel wells and the rad cradle to a sandblasting shop in Woodstock.

The car should be ready for paint a week from Monday !!!

I had to go get dog food today,

I chose the store just down from the body shop biggrin

That Ziebart oily rubber coating really did it's job over the years.

These are the filler panels from the front of the wheel wells.

Before and after I removed the coating.

z bart.jpg

005ar.jpg

Painted up and now I just want to use them as wall art !

012a.jpg

016a.jpg

Most these panels rusted off by 1976.

As for the rest of the car,

All the "Hot Rod" black is done.

001a.jpg

004a2.jpg

008a.jpg

I'm glad they talked me into the restoration of everything under the hood.

The Rad cradle, wheel wells, battery tray and hood hinges were sandblasted at Franklin's in Woodstock, ON.

I highly recommend this "Heavy Machinery" shop as they always do a great job.

The Air breather was done in house.

Does anyone have a line on a recreated air breather sticker ?

Some insurance work that came in has delayed the finish date for the car but the paint is going on soon.

Several base coats and then at lease two coats of clear.

The front fenders will be painted off the car but installed for the final coats.

I decided to call a flatbed when it is ready.

They are still dumping sand on my roads.

The U-Haul trailer would not be the best with my truck kicking up all that junk.

There is nothing wrong with Red.

There are a lot of nice Red cars out there.

But I wanted a change.

When the Chrome and stainless is done, you'll understand biggrin

LOL, don't worry, I have no issue with black cars!

But if I mail you my 69 Parisienne convertible cowl tag with the 427 engine code on it, that won't work now because the paint colour won't match the cowl tag....

I ordered one from Tag My Ride

I thought about asking him to change the paint code but this is the exact match to the original.

In case I want to go red again biggrin

But you know, a 427 Red convertible would be a real nice car smile

Starting to get ready for reassembly.

001a.jpg

002a.jpg

I am also looking for options to bring the car home.

The gravel pits, near Ingersoll, are very busy and most of the paved roads between me and my car are covered in mud.

Check this out, I never realized how many gravel pits have sprung up in this area.

https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Bonduelle+Canada+Inc/@43.0095749,-80.9363767,844m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x882e9ba85ef88769:0x48fc50de3c3cc999!8m2!3d43.009571!4d-80.934188

A flatbed would be the best but the local company has switched to delivering groceries to shut ins.

My problem suddenly seems pretty small.

I think with the current world events, I'll slap on the tail lights and plates and drive her home the long way, around the mess.

With the top down biggrin
