235/ 261 electronic distributor

HI, I WANT TO UP GRADE TO AN ELECTRONIC IGNITION IN A 62 WITH A 235.

AN ORIGINAL GM DIST. FROM A 250 IS A GOOD START FROM WHAT I AM TOLD.

IS THERE ANY OTHER ONE THAT WILL WORK ?

V-6  ??

You may be able to buy an electronic on conversion kit for your stock distributor. Petronix is one brand. You could check online at places like Summit, Rock Auto or Speedway. I am sure someone else will also have info.

Buy a pertronics, they work great, had one since 2003. Easy to install and no issues, but buy their recommended matching coil.

Like Don said PERTRONIX all the way. I have it in my 57 261 six which is the same unit for your 62 235 six. I have now used it in three different cars and never had a single issue in many years now. I would also recommend the PERTRONIX coil to make it a complete package. It could not be any more simple to install than it is. By the way a distributor from a later generation 250 six will not work in your 62 and even if it did work it would not be any better than PERTRONIX. Good luck.

I agree with everyone here, I also used Pertronix in my original 1950 Distributor for my wife's 239 flat head, works perfect so far.

Got my Pertronix & coil thru Amazon .ca for 409 works great, easy install, but you have to remove dist. to add shims so marl rotor position before removal!!!

In Keith's case with a 235 six, there is no shimming involved. The conversion is done with the distributor in the motor. Just in case there is any confusion here. Cheers.
