Not sure if this helps. 67 GTO/67 Firebird.

Carl, the bumper ends give it away. It is not a Fire Bird. Look closely at the bumper ends. Cheers.biggrin

You got good eyes. I can't see the bumper ends well enough to say what they look light. I can't figure it out. The tail lights aren't any year of GTO though. 67 would be the only ones even close but they are the wrong size and spaced wrong to be 67 GTO.

Hmmmconfuse

Stuff like this makes me crazy, I have to figure it out!

I keep looking and I can only see a Firebird in this shot. What am I missing?

At any rate, it appears the Chevelle has the original engine in it still, as evidenced by the chrome valve covers and the bottom view showing the canister oil filter.

But what's with the extra steel braces welded into the floor? Maybe to support a roll cage?

And nice exhaust..........sidepipes for show, not hooked up and a brand new dual system with no mufflers!

Or does it maybe have real slender glasspacks?

That car has a narrow rear bumper and a valence panel below it.  Firebird.

Looks like a Firebrid to me. Much narrower than a full sized Pontiac.

You guys now have me convinced that it is a Firebird. What a shame destroying that 67 SS Chevelle. The car would have been nine years old and probably not worth much at the time. Still sad to witness the demise of a worthy car. disbeliefno

I agree George, looks like it was a decent original car as well.  It's a shame that so many good cars get destroyed to make movies and TV shows (think of all the Chargers destroyed for Dukes of Hazzard), but I suppose a lot of them would have been used up and sent to the scrapyard anyhow.

More recently in the "Sad Destruction " category. In the Tom Cruise film "Jack Reacher", a beautiful 1970 Chevelle SS is destroyed. I am not sure if it was a real big block SS and even it was a clone, still very sad to see. confusehmmdisbeliefnodohevileyebleh.

I just watched "FASTER" with Dwayne Johnson. In the movie he drives a 70 Chevelle. Only strange thing is it has a 71 rear bumper. Maybe the show producers felt the round taillights looked cooler. Also there's a scene where he's supposed to be driving. The camera is in the passenger front seat area and pans from looking straight out to looking towards Johnson who is driving. You'll notice the speedometer is on zero! The car must have been towed on a trailer for that scene.

Recent movie, cant remember the name but set in nfld? The car was a 63 Parisienne 2 door but in a scene where it goes off the road and rolls, you can see the car was a 4 door sedan made to look like a 2 door. It was posted here, maybe I can find it.

What a waste of a nice rare four door, when they could have rolled a common two door. smile

Apparently for the filming of the movie they went on the hunt and found 9 '70 Chevelles with only 1 being a 396 SS which Cruise himself kept. No SS's were used/destroyed during filming of the movie. The movie cars had 502's in them and Muncie 4 speeds among other neat upgrades.

Funny, I was just watching "Repo Man" a minute ago and spotted something I've never seen before! I'm sure most of you have seen this show with the guy driving the 64 Malibu. At the start of the show the cop pulls him over. When the cop opens the trunk to look inside, the car has a front mount antenna and a circular sticker on the left side of the rear bumper. After the cop is "fried" from what's in the trunk, the guy pulls away in the "same" car but now it has a square sticker on the bumper, different license number and a rear mount antenna!

This Youtube clip shows it if you watch it. Right at the start, front antenna, right at the end, rear antenna.

Most common I notice: A driving scene where the interior shot clearly shows the key off, or no key, and or it's in park. Another is a major crash where driver toast but was able to put in park and pull the key and of course the hot wire scenes where they jump wires and go, no wheel unlock....

From the same movie, one of the first scenes when Emilio Estevez's character is fooled into helping with a repo of a white Cutlass - the Cutlass morphs from a 4-door late '70s fastback style to a early-mid '80s coupe a few times.  After watching the movie, though, I was half wondering if they did that on purpose to mess with us - the movie was full of odd details, like generic labels on everything - one scene he says let's go for a drink, the next scene they are in a store buying white labeled cans with "Drink" on them...

My problem is with Jay Leno. When he went about to build a 66 Toronado a few years ago the car he bought and used was a white 67. If you watch the build it clearly shows a 67 being used, then turned into a 66 later when it was painted gold. I have reached out to them by E-Mail and have never got a reply back. Anyway that's my rant.

In a number of films i have seen over the years, the driver is driving the car yet the shifter lever is in the PARK position.

In a lot of true crime shows, the reenactment vehicles NEVER match the the vehicles in the actual crime scene photos. My wife has to constantly listen to me correcting vehicle mistakes.

Connie and I have been watching "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" on Amazon Prime. It is set in the late 1950's. I can't imagine the money that must have been spent on set design. Incredible attention to detail! Everything from Cafe's to Department stores look so period correct you've travelled back in time. My only gripe would be the cars are all minty. The latest season takes place mostly in Las Vegas. The "period" casino must have cost millions to design.

Darryl, that sounds like an old story in our household as well. I drive my misses around the bend catching mistakes. She never understands why it bugs me so much. biggrin
