I saw that ad. About 20 miles from me but I don't know the car.

Good old made in Australia Holden. All the time I have spent in the USA or Canada, so far I only ever saw three of the Aussie made cars:

1 x GTO in Maui, 1 x GTO on Oahu and a Pontiac G6 in Victoria BC. I haven't seen any Chevrolet badged versions yet.

Here is an Aussie version of the G8:

www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2010-holden-commodore-ss-v-special-edition-ve-manual-my10/SSE-AD-5321442/

Here is what the GTO was made from:

www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2004-holden-monaro-cv8-vz-auto/OAG-AD-18174210/

Funnily enough the original Monaro the 1968 HK, the 1968 HK sedan it was based upon was actually exported LHD into the USA, into Hawaii. I've never seen one over there but there is supposedly some still around:

Monaro GTS327: www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2007-shannons-melbourne-summer-classic-auction/WFEVDA9F3588RAEC/

2009 G8 GT daily driver in our garage, my wife says it's the best car we've ever owned.

Over the years our daily drivers have included 2 LT1 Impala SS's (one was a 6 speed), an LT1 Fleetwood, LT1 Roadmaster, 87 Grand National, numerous Cutlass's etc but she says this car is by far more fun to drive than any of those.

Plus it gets 30 mpg on the highway.

I can't argue with her!

Wait till you drive the VFII Holden based car, with the LS3 in it. The 6.0L LS2 was in VE and VFI. Not sure if you got the G8's over there with LS3 or not?

HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) made them with an LSA as well:

www.hsv.com.au/see/gts/

And GTS was available on a Ute as well:

Here is a lower spec version:

We got a G8 GXP that had that engine but they are rare. It was the only way you could get a 6 speed manual in a G8. Think there was roughly 800 manuals sold and a 1000 automatics from what I recall reading a while back. They hold their value really really well.
