The Bas#$@#s don't even siphon anymore. The puncture a hole in the bottom of the tank. Perhaps trusty old Karma will get them one day in a ball of fire.

His insurance should cover him for such an event , no?

Several years ago a friends truck was siphoned. He had a locking gas cap but the thieves cut the hose on the fill pipe to get the gas. He didnt know about the hose being cut until he tried to fill it up!

Victim is threatened with fine? Sounds about right for Vancouver. hmm

I wonder if environmental laws are part of why Tin Man Auto decided to close his secret grotto?

When my aunt owned my Chevelle she had placed a spiral anti-syphon spring into the fuel neck. Some low-life shoved it into the tank where it rattled around for years until we dropped the tank. Oh, and when some scum stole the battery they cut the battery cables. And walked across the hood, and snapped the antenna. One vent glass was replaced on the car when a thief broke it. The only thing that happened under my ownership was decades ago somebody tried to pry the Malibu emblem off the quarter but only got a chunk. Repros are top notch so I replaced them. A few years back I discovered weeks after it happened that the electricians while wiring the garage bent my GM replacement antenna. Now I have a GM licensed replacement.

A neighbor who drives a plug in hybrid Mercedes suv took an old gas jug and filled it and put it in the back hatch. Smelled gas on the way home but thought it was just coming from a bit spilled on the outside of the jug. When he got home the jug was empty. His batteries are under that floor, apparently they are ok. This was my n the past week and they have had it professionally cleaned and ozoned, it still smells so far. Not sure if it was 10 or 20 litres.
