I was brousing (wading) through eBay listings, looking for any 65 Catalina related stuff, and came across a nice NOS tailamp bezel.
But this one is strange, while a separate piece, it has a small section of the main panel attached to it. Almost like it's been cut from a full panel. It's not advertised as such. No mention at all.
I know that the Canadian trim panel was 3 piece for whatever reasons, but the parting line of the split was never in the main panel. It was just to the side of the inner lamp surround.
The USA car, had a one piece panel. Is this NOS part some kind of GM service repair for the full panel? Strange.
Anyone seen this?
NOS part, and the Canadian Laurentian/Strato and Parisienne panel,
I wondered if perhaps the tail light housings ( moulding, rear end panel side ) varied by series but not so according to the Cdn book.
The tail panel in red is the same as my 65 CS.
Looking at the pic with the arrow I suspect that yes it has been cut as the coloured sheet metal is still attached and wouldn't be on a NOS bezel.
Also on the Cdn cars the tail light moulding slips in behind the main panel ( ie it doesn't just butt up to it )
He has been trying to sell that for a very long time and I have sent him msgs that he is misrepresenting that piece. It is clearly a cut section to a US tail panel for the Catalina.
