I was just outside taking a picture through the windshield on my 65, and just noticed 2 big areas right in the drivers field of view that are covered in a million etching pits from grinding.
When I did the windshield channel, I had the glass sitting up on the roof...uncovered. I though it wouldn't be an issue as all the sparks from grinding went straight up, away from the glass.
Well, obviously not so. It's pretty much ruined, and it was a real nice piece of 1966 date coded glass. So dissapointed, what a fool.
Anyway, can you still get replacement glass for a 65-66 Sedan? They share the same numbers Sedan and wagon 65-66.

Now I'm thinking this fail would make a good kick off to a new thread "Shop Tips" #1. Always cover all the glass in the vicinity of any grinding.

Thanks Todd. But unfortunately I think the pits are just too deep, they're not like a light scratch or even a winter sand pit. They are brutal if you know what I mean.
But might be worth a try!

They sell a kit for deeper scratches. At first glance looking at the review ratings it looks like it doesn't work well, but when you read the actual reviews it sounds like it actually does a good job and those who complained just aren't doing it right. I'm sure you have the patience to do it. As you say it might be worth a try! I look forward to your windshield repair thread!
I picked up some glass from auto city last summer in Minnesota where they are located. They also brought a missing piece to Carlisle PA for me. But they will not, under any circumstances, ship to Canada. They do go to a lot of US shows and flea markets though and they will deliver at those locations. The glass is made in Taiwan and is of good quality.
Most of the auto glass dealers should be able to help you with a windshield. A few years back I had Speedy auto glass install a new windshield in my 69 Kingswood wagon.
