I have had a bench grinder kicking around for awhile that I bought on sale and was trying to figure out where to mount it. I had looked at mounting it to the bench or putting it on a stand, but wasnt sure what to do with it. Well, I was walking around Princess Auto in the surplus department and found an engine lift plate for $12.99. I drilled two holes in it to mount the grinder and now I just clamp it in the bench vise when I need it, and put it under the bench out of the way when I am finished with it.

With permission, I may steal your idea at the cabin! I have a loose grinder there and no real workbench to bolt it to, but I have been thinking about a portable vise setup.
