Gee, I didn't realize that General Motors went 'belly up'... biggrin

Also, Plymouth was a brand within Chrysler, which has 'merged' a few times but hasn't gone belly-up.

AMC was bought out by Chrysler... so I don't even know if it would be correct to call it 'belly up'.

Studebaker, yes...

Another car-related article by someone who doesn't really seem to know much about cars. aww

And in #6 for the 1966 Beaumont SD they mentioned it's similar to the Chevy II Nova SS???? Great research by someone that doesn't even know the difference between body series....I'm no expert but who checks this stuff before publishing?

It's desktop publishing, and probably by someone who was not born when those cars were new (assuming). Kudos for at least being interested. It once again shows you can't believe everything you read on the Internet.

I think the old GM legally died during the restructuring and it is the New General Motors today. Belly Up is not much of a stretch. 2 divisions from the musclecar days & 2 other vehicle divisions, plus the spin-off companies. Usually a corporation will spin off under-performing divisions. Pontiac was a star in Canada (look at any historical photo) and Oldsmobile once had the top-selling nameplate.

Good on you for taking the high road, Cameron.  I guess we should count our blessings that somebody cares enough to actually construct a story about those cars, although the cynical part of me is thinking that they were just trying to create a headline that stereotypical "boomer" men would click on to generate revenue for them... IMHO when we "boomers" are gone, these types of articles will no longer be written, to be replaced by articles on video games or something to create clickbait for "Gen X" or "millennial" browsers...

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't consider restructuring or government bailouts to be going "belly up", though technically I suppose I should.  If that's the case, then only Ford (I think) would be considered as not being "belly up".  My opinion is that as long as lineage to the original company remains (as it does for Ford, GM, Chrysler, and in a sense, AMC) then the carmaker should still be considered to exist in some form.  I think I may be a little erroneous with my opinion... but it's the way my mind works... biggrin

His place is about 10km from me. I drive by on my route some days, but never see a sign of him or the cars. Had a 68 he was also doing also. He may have moved.
