Great story. Just saw his interview after the game. Was perfectly timed to make the last save as the clock ran out. They sure played well in front of him.
The leafs should hire a whole bunch of Zamboni drivers.
This event will make it into hockey trivia ... it sounds like something that would have happened 60 years ago

Hats offf to AYRES!!!!The way the LAFFS played the Canes they could have won with an empty net! What an over priced bunch of losers. it's hard to remain a Leaf fan ( 60 years ) with team ( lack of ) effort like this. It would be a disgrace if they make the playoffs!

Believe they said on the hockey cast that he had only ever played at a Jr B level.
Anyone on here old enough to remember when another " Jr B " goaltender beat the Leafs and Punch Imlach. ( hint: Rogatien Vachon )
I drove one of those for 18 years .but mine wasn't,t a zamboni it was a Olympia ice resurfaced but I did drive zambonies sometimes that is one in a life time happening

Dont know if they have got better but the rinks I worked at hated the Olympias , said Zamboni is way better machine

Seems that Zamboni has become the generic term for any ice scaper/refinisher.
Much like Dremel for any rotary tool.
Another is we went " ski-dooing " last night. No you went snowmobiling on an Arctic Cat
While we are talking cars I'm not sure how widely known this is but when I was a Hockey Executive a few years ago, 1995-2006, a Zamboni was a Ford drive line and an Olympia was a GMC 4.3 litre drive line, This had significant effects on sponsorship contracts at the arenas. GM would always write in sponsorship deals no Zamboni's to be used in rinks where they had sponsor deals, only Olympia. I understand that recent Zambonis have started to use GM power, but in the old days it was always Ford.

in the 80s they were making them in Burford on (Brantford) They would buy the complete GM truck, strip out the drive line and then sale the body. Lots of old rusty chev trucks got new bodies . Later GM sold them just the parts they needed for a lot less

I was told they were Blazers/Jimmys, is that right Kevin?

Maybe later Ray but back then it was full size pick ups. One year they showed up at Carlisle swap meet with a bunch of bodys
