You know you are getting old when......

You know you are getting old when......

The Canadian children's entertainer you knew, now looks like the Canadian cult entertainer you knew from 20 years ago.

By the way, both still on tour !

Red Green and Fred Penner.

Ah Steve Smith (Red Green) has to be one of the most naturally funny guys that has ever existed. A genius in his way. I wonder if he's that funny around the house or if he's a grumpy oldman like the rest of us.

I beat up Steve Smith when he was a mouthy brat of a kid.

We bumped into each other when he was home for a visit (Cobourg, ON.) later in life and we laughed about it. He was playing for the Oilers in the NHL then. I'm glad he didn't hold a grudge, as he was bigger than me at that point.

You know, Steve Smith reminds me of my dad is so many ways. I've been to lodges & packed for a week deep in Algonquin with dad fishing, and witnessed the boys duck hunting at Long Point after a night of drinking & debauchery. The resemblance is striking! I remember dad often would drive prepared with hip-waders & fishing rod in the trunk in case he saw a nice stream where he could spend a little quality time. Dad would also have contraptions he was working on downstairs, from down-riggers & spool to shot-loaders.

It is so nice at Red Green's lodge, with the constant sound of distant chain saws, the hog screech Call To Order, and the completely unintelligible pledge mumbled by it's members.

He did us all a favor by destroying nearly every K Car he got his hands on. Also a genius with duct tape.

Got tickets to his last night of taping possum lodge. Local welding shop was working on the possum van. Bill Green was a big part of the show too. Smart man

You know when you're starting to get old when you put an ad up for a 454 for sale and some young guy comes back saying he has no idea what a Z16 is or a 396/427!! The 454 in the ad states it has a late dated- October- '65 SWP for a 396/427 but too late to be for a Z16 Chevelle. And so it begins........

I turned the corner past 60 a couple of years ago. I had someone tell me the other day I really hadn't aged in the last 20 years. Many people have told me that, and it's quite true. I already looked 60 when I was 40!!! People often stuck their foot in their mouth guessing my age decades ago because I started with my first gray hairs when I was 15. I had guys guess I was 60 when I was in my 40's....

There are a number of lessons to be learned here.
