Had a great visit this week with a fellow Canadian Poncho site member in New Zealand. Had the pleasure of meeting Gayne (Firstdancebridalcars), in Te Pahu on the North Island. Received a very warm welcome by Gayne and his family where we chatted over tea and warm scones, toured his new home with a beautiful view of the valley but the highlight of course was viewing his 1960 RH drive Laurentian(s) which he trusted me to take for a spin around the block. Beautiful driving car!!
Thanks Gayne for the great hospitality and I hope you make it to Canada someday where we can return the favour!!
The people in front hid the car. Thats a nice car and a very nice one to enjoy driving, any problem shifting with the left hand or was it a powerglide? 60 and 63 are my favourite years.

This qualifies as the longest coffee & donut (tea & scone) meeting in Canadian Poncho history ... good stuff!

It was a power glide which added enough confusion on its own but it really would have been fun to shift a 3 on the tree. it felt very nice on the rural roads. was a pleasure to drive
Thanks for the kind words Kim. It was a pleasure hosting you and your friends for the afternoon. The spin round the block was a breeze and felt very comfortable as you had had a bit of practice in the rental and that looked damage free. A few days after Kim called we had the good fortune to host another member of Canadian Poncho. Jake ( Jakeb ) and his lovely wife Linda called in for scones and tea on their way up north. Out came the Pontiac and off for another cruise round the block. Photos to follow. We have really enjoyed having members call by and if any others are planning a trip down under please drop us a line.
Well Gayne beat me to it with the post. My wife and I are also touring New Zealand and stopped in to see Gayne, Allison and Allisons sister, Belinda who is visiting from the UK. We had a great visit, very hospitable people. Got to see Gaynes cars (1960 Pontiacs of course). I asked how many times do you get two Canadian Poncho members from Manitoba visiting within a week and his answer was never! He also let me take one for a spin, right hand drive and a 1959 Chev dash, what a treat! I may be able to help him with a few parts he is looking for as well. We sure hope Gayne & Allison can make it to Canada some time a return the favour as Kim said earlier. I told him not to come in the winter, (ha ha). Thanks again for your hospitality. Jake & Linda
Canadian Poncho double-header! Good stuff for Canuck/Oz relations!
