A friend of mine owns a towing business and ordered a new float truck. I will try to get pictures when I see it, but it?s an International CV model truck. My friend said that it?s a rebadged GMC topkick. It also has a Duramax Diesel and Allison trans.
I've never seen or heard of one of those new CV models. This isn't the first time International has used somebody else's cab. International & Diamond T used to share cabs & engines on certain models. The Australian Dodge trucks of the 1960s were Internationals actually. Relay-Hendrickson also used International / Diamond T cabs. I didn't think International offered anything in that GVWR class except maybe the old low-profile S-series. We all remember the Ford C-series tilt cabs (they were everywhere), but the cabs were produced by Budd corporation and originally sold as a Mack in the 1950s. Ford sold them since the 1957 models through 1990.
Sterling did a similar thing. Starting 1997 through 2009 they bought the Ford Louisville & sold it as a Sterling. Sterling also had a 14,000 lb Ram truck (by Chrysler) that was badged as a Sterling Bullet.
