Name that Classic Car....Part 1

So Poncho Guys and Gals, thought I might start a new post that everyone might find interesting. The Group here is a wealth of automotive experience, and I doubt that I can stump anybody, but I will give it a shot here.

Try naming this car, year, model, engine, options, etc., etc, etc..,and maybe what you might estimate it's value to be, if you could. I will post all the right info in a few days, and see who gets the Poncho Bragging Rights.

Good Luck here ! Might help pass some time during this crisis.

I see a '71 GTO convertible in there. Back in September 1970 the Canadian Magazine (weekly insert for Globe & Mail) showed a red '71 GTO convertible with about 18 pics in the GM Proving Grounds on the cover. We didn't know that was to be the last official year for the GTO convertible, as  the '72s were created by options but were Le Mans Sport technically.

The Corvette appears to be a '66 roadster with auxiliary top, 350-horse 327, am/fm radio, teakwood steering wheel. Manual brakes & possibly steering as well.

Id nitpick, manual steering and brakes, not an option, the ask was for options. Not sure if am-fm was an option in 66, but it likely was. Price, Id say is$70,000.

Well Poncho Guys, you are all hard to stump, for sure.

I think that CdnGMFan takes the trophy and bragging rights on this one.

This car is an original '65 Corvette Stingray convertible, with hard and soft tops. It is an L79, so 327 engine. It has 63,303 original miles on it, and actually spent a few years in a museum.

Originally a California car, only two owners for this Roadster. Has Muncie M20 four speed, independent front and rear suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, AM / FM radio, and factory telescoping steering wheel. The owner actually handed me the keys and said I could buy it, but when he told me it was $79,500 U.S., I had to hand the keys back right away. The divorce alone would cost way more than this classic car....Sigh.

Great job on this Guys !

Maybe I will post the requested GTO pictures tomorrow.

Those are '66 wheelcovers on the 'vette and I couldn't see the grille. On 63-65s the grille is horizontal bars while on 66-67 they are egg crate pattern. Lots of subtleties when trying to figure, but I've been doing it since I was on a tricycle.

Got any more? wink

I have lots more cool pictures to post, but my digital Nikon camera seems to be having a brain fart, and won't let me download all of my pictures. Guess maybe I just need to get a bigger hammer.

GTO pictures coming up later this morning.

I really like your analogy about the tricycle CdnGMFan. I hot- rodded an Oshawa built "38 Chevy 2 door coupe a few years back and it could beat any car within a 30 mile radius to my house. Just like in "American Graffiti", when I easily beat the fastest car in the Valley, the Loser of that race said to me, "How long have you been driving fast GM cars ???", and I said, "Ever since I could see over the steering wheel !". I guess I should have been racing him for "Pinks", but I didn't want a crappy Mustang.

My '38 pictures are on another PC right now, but here is an exact Brother to the car I built, same colour even, just for interest here.
