1969 Dealer Sales Album

Neat find! I picked up a full 69 Canadian Pontiac Sales Album. It must have come from Quebec originally as about half the pages are french. Fortunately I can read french well enough to understand. It includes separate sections for Canadian full size, Beaumont, Acadian as well as the imported Firebird, GTO and Grand Prix. It included paint and vinyl top chips as well as interior malt samples for all models.

One interesting thing I didnt know is that Canadian built convertibles (parisienne, 2+2 and Beaumont) were only available with black or white tops, American made cars also had blue and green tops.

Sales albums are great as they cover all the models & details. They are also pretty scarce as there were few copies per dealer (if even that), unlike brochures. Lucky score!

Here is a pic of the front cover. Unlike the US where the was a separate manual for colors and trim it looks like in Canada there was a single manual that included everything.

Option listing with prices...

two interesting tidbits include a Shift Lever, floor mounted floor shift (buckets and auto required), this option is indicated as only available in February.  Not sure what it means since 2+2 came standard with floor shift and console when automatic was ordered and Grand Parisienne came with console and floor shift when buckets were ordered?  There is a second option price list in this binder that doesnt include prices and it makes no mention of this option.  (unfortunately these listings are not dated but it seems that the listings with prices are later-the GTO listing with prices shows the correct HP of the optional engines while the listing without prices refers to 68 spec 400HO and RA both at 360 horse)

F41 here is restricted to the 390 horse engine but the other listing shows it was offered with any 427 or the 396.  In both cases the F41 wasnt available with the auto level option.

another restriction Ive never heard of is no 8 track on console cars with AC

optional axle ratios offered only on the six and the 250 horse V8

power seat with bench seat only, not offered with 4 speed

no power seat or windows on stratchief

no AC on six banger

the rear bumper insert was offered on non grande parisienne

no posi available on a taxi??

Power train data, some French words Ive never heard of, Im sure the typical French Canadian sales man had no clue what some of these words meant either!

Info on the chassis...

Noteworthy is the following...

No front sway bars on Strato or Laurentian

Only one upper rear control arm on six cylinder or 250 horse engine (except on wagons or if F40 ordered)

if You ordered power steering on Parisienne, 2+2 or grand parisienne it was variable ratio, on strato and Laurentian it was normal constant ratio.

brake shoes were glued not riveted.

Another oddity I never knew, you couldn't order a convertible (Parisienne) with a six cylinder.

I found a notation in french that the sport shift option that is listed was supposed to be the 69-70 GTO-Firebird-Grand Prix rallye floor shift that allowed a push to the right to limit upshifts to one gear at a time. I suspect it never actually made it to production on the Canadian models. They would have needed to change the pushbotton on the knob to replace the PMD notation since Pontiac in Canada was definitely not a Motor Division

Another tidbit, Rallye wheels were not available on Grande Parisiennes or wagons. (also not offered with fender skirt option on Parisienne). Are they wider than the standard wheels or is it just the center cap that protrudes?

Actually instead of PMD in Canada it would have been PTED (Pontiac Trim & Emblems Division), doesn't have the same ring.
