Hate the Grocery Store Crowds?

Forgive me if someone already mentioned this. If you want to know the best time to visit your favorite grocery store. Google it. Google will tell you when that store is busiest and even give you live data. For example I just googled my local Superstore. Here's what the results show. A great way to determine the best time to go and not have people crawling all over the place (however I did notice yesterday our local grocery stores were now restricting the number of people who could enter- but there was a big lineup outside..)

Great tip Todd. Thanks.

I've only been to the store once in the past 3 weeks, and another trip is definitely becoming necessary. Unfortunately I'm not losing any weight yet (despite having no beer for close to a month!!) but we're definitely cycling the inventory.
When I was last there, it was quiet when I arrived (about 9:30 AM) but by the time I left, it took more than 30 minutes to get through checkout. I don't see "live" data for my grocery store on the Google App - probably insufficient data.

I wonder, does Google use cellphone tracking to gather this data, or do you think the stores provide the data to Google?

I went at 8 AM yesterday to our local store (they open at 8) on the suggestion of the manager, first one there. He says at that time everything has been freshly cleaned even though they continue it through the day. When I was checking out the second customer had just arrived.

C'mon out! As soon as it warms up a bit we can sit out on the driveway.

Looks like I have to start work Monday, sadly...I'm not too keen on that.

The stores here open an hour earlier (7am) but only for seniors. Carl, you could shop at 7! biggrin

They don't do that here yet or I would! They were doing it in Arizona when we were there but the reports were that it was just as crowded. The only advantage for the seniors was the fully stocked shelves.

And the store should be freshly sanitized.

Yes, that was the main reason I liked going at 8 here the other day. He had told Jo when she called to ask what the quietest time to shop was, come at 8, store is emptiest and freshly sanitized.

In Ontario, some No Frills stores are going to "one family member" per store.

I told my wife that I will stay out in the parking lot with all the men !

Not only seniors, but people with low immunity.

Sobey's also has the "popular hour" bar graph on their sites.

I've gone at 7:00 once (got up at 5:30 to do so) a couple weeks ago. I found that you have to lay back a bit (15 minutes after opening) because of the initial 7:00 door opening surge. I'll be going again this week.
