I know that on the surface it may seem very minor but this really speaks volumes about the lack of detail on GM's part. You really have to worry what else is wrong with this vehicle. For GM's sake hopefully nothing else.

I am inclined to call that incompetence and no-one wants incompetent people building their car.

Not sure I agree! Incompetence is not being able to do their job. Think they are competent but just don't give a shoit! You can do a job poorly,or you can do a job well...all depends on the persons mood/pride. We have let a few go at my new work. They all come on like gang busters!!!! After a few months...phone breaks/smoke breaks/coffee breaks/bathroom breaks....I know they can do the job!!!  Just don't want to apply themselves.....no

Yes, they are ugly cars. Have been for decades.

You know I'm going to defend the assemblers.

The dash would have been made by a vender and likely not in the U.S.

The seem stiches would have been a programing error.

Not even the Rolls is hand stitched any more.

There is a long history of vendors sending junk to the auto plants.

At one point, at the Oakville plant, there was over a hundred people brought in by vendors just to try to repair the parts before they went on the car.

The vendor reps I have dealt with over the years, were more interested in covering up problems than solving them.

I'm sure GM bosses knew about this error and did a cost analysis and came up with a wonderful idea !

Lack of quality control, I assume that a robot does the stitching on there, but whoever let these mistakes get to a customer is an idiot. It would have passed through quality control at the plant, a predelivery detailing, plus the salesman and whoever else is involved in handing over the keys and getting money. These are rare at this point in time, youd think it would have been eyeballed by a lot of people and that to me would be hard to miss.

IMHO the last nice looking Corvette was a 67. For performance and handling, the C 5 up will blow the doors off the older stuff, but crawling around on the ground to get in and out of them is not exactly a pleasure. Theyve lost there good looks in the C7 and C8.

30 -40 years when people are trying to buy the crochet stitch model you guys will be shaking your heads. 63 split window is one of the biggest mistakes and one of the most rarest wink

Yeah, this is my opinion as well.  Looks like a vendor error that shouldn't have made it out of their facility, but did.  Somebody at the GM plant would or should have noticed it, and somebody would have had to make a go/no go decision.  It sounds like there has been a lot of pressure to get production going (pre COVID, that is), so the decision would have been made.

Sounds like a tough position to be in.  If production had been held up the complaints of customers who put their money down and were waiting for their cars would probably have been louder.

If it were mine, I would probably not care.  I don't tend to focus a lot of attention on stitching - whereas I do on driving, but that's just me.
