I haven't gotten through it all yet, but WOW!

Here's Chevrolet's 1969 ZL-1 Camaro prototype:

Rich and eccentric and you get 300 vintage cars stacked on top of one another. I do not see the point in this because how could you possibly enjoy any of those cars. I say the guy and his lady there sell all or most of those cars to people that will actually enjoy them. Cars just sitting for years just turn into mechanical junk after a while. The foreign stuff there does nothing for me but the older American stuff i enjoyed seeing. Hopefully the cars they do sell go to good homes and not houses of horrors.

Some rare and beautiful cars here; however it is hard to imagine the pleasure of ownership being much more than that of possession.

That said, here's a model for car collection that I do like. It is called Vernon's Toy Shop, an antique car museum that exists in a small town of about 200 people in rural Newfoundland . The owner travels all over to buy and restore rare and high quality vintage vehicles.

 https://www.vernonsantiquecarmuseum.ca/

I saw his latest restoration - a 1960 Dodge - when I visited the Museum in November. When I saw the Dodge, I realized I had also seen it just a couple of weeks earlier, at the annual Hershey car show in October in Hershey Pennsylvania (where Vernon later told me he first displayed it).

The green 58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in the background in front of the Dodge is the most beautiful one I've ever seen and the standard of restoration is impeccable.

He has only the best cars, and he only collects rarities. If you ever have a chance to visit, it will be well worth doing. Dennis Gage even had a ride in a couple of his cars back in 2014.

Would it be even possible to work on/restore ANY of the cars in that mess?

This type of collecting is a sickness. I also see the die cast guys do the same thing- thousands of toy cars locked away in boxes in the attic. What's the sense?

The thrill of the chase.

Lot's go in....not much comes out.

Sadly many of the cars are clones, fakey doo's and curiosities.

The black ZL1 prototype is a clone and was built by Al Wallace a couple decades ago.

However the collection does house arguably the best ZL1, car #55, it's spectacular.

There's a pair of Bizzarrini P538's both built by a former employee that are fakey doo's. Same for the P3/4 Ferrari and 288 GTO curiosities.

It must have been a pile of fun purchasing the cars!

To each his own.....if it wasn't for some personalities many of the cars we enjoy today would have seen the crusher. Whether the car was coveted and kept indoors or left in a field so long that a tree grew up in the engine bay. I witnessed a collection of Hemi Mopars including a few E body convertibles that were sitting in containers in the desert.

Likely the most eccentric collection I've seen in person was that of Walter Medlin. A very passionate collector of uber rare racing and street exotics. It would take somebody like a Joe Exotic to take Walter's crown away:

I think the barn find video that is the subject of this thread will go down in history as an academy award winning promotion for the sale of the cars.

When it is all said and done with the 300 or so cars, it would be interesting to see the actual sell price realized for some of these cars, or even to know how much the entire auction of them pulls in. Could be a nice retirement for somebody ! If they all have paperwork and ownerships, they will likely fetch some pretty big dollars.

As for Vernon's Antique Museum, it looks to have significant cars as well but truly museum-worthy. If I'm ever out on The Rock I will be sure to check it out. Really nice thumbsup.gif

As for the 300 car collection, any of them will need to properly serviced prior to attempted start-up.

Well the one positive is that the cars are out of the elements and away from UV rays. That really does save trim, upholstery, tires and other things. I knew of a '69 Mercury pickup in Ancaster that was parked in excellent condition when parked, but after sitting unmoved for 15 years at the end of the driveway through all weather the truck had rust-through, even the formerly perfect MERCURY tailgate was laid to waste. no

I was a regular viewer of the site, but for some reason the owner hasn't added new cars to it in years.

I was at Vernons Toy Store a couple of years ago, unbelievable cars, especially considering where he has located them, in rural Nfld.
He has other cars in Florida, when they built the 69 camaro pace car, the white convertible with the orange stripe, they built 2 for use in the race, serial number 1 and serial number 2. Vernon owns serial number 1.

He also owns a documented 64 Impala convertible factory ordered with every available option. His museum was custom built, it has an exhaust outlet in the floor behind each car on the perimeter.
