60 Pontiac 2 door post in Melbourne, Ont on Kijiji

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1496417306&utm_source=alerts&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Kijiji_Search_Alerts

1960 Pontiac Strato-Chief 2 door post car. Same roofline and essentially whole car, as a Chevy Impala. Familiar yet different enough to be unique. Canadian Pontiacs are built on Chevy platforms making parts far easier to find. This car drives and cruises well. Safetied last summer, should safety again easily. Was in storage for twelve years prior to that. Body solid with some patina and old school pinstriping. (Patina easily reversed if thats not your bag) Interior in good shape, seats are comfy, no rips. New package tray and added seatbelts. Engine is a 261 inline six specific to Pontiac but is a Chevy motor, the same externally as a 235 Chevy. All electronics and gaskets etc interchangeable. Has new gaskets, rebuilt carb and runs well. Looks good. New manifold studs, gaskets, muffler and tailpipe. NEW- HEI conversion with new distributor. Runs like a top! Front disc brake conversion including dual reservoir master cylinder and power booster. All new brake lines and rear cylinders. Wheels are transit steelies, 20 front and 22 rear with factory dog dish hubcaps and low profile whitewalls. Not into the wheels? Have your own? We can make a deal without the wheels and tires. Possible trade for a cool old station wagon? I need more doors. Haha. Thanks for looking. $15000 OBO

The wheels going into the trash bin is a no brainer, the rest of the car is real sweet and should be left that way. smile

That's NEAT [ minus the wheels & tires] doesn't say whether it's a P/G or 3 pedal car?? Gear shift is visible in picture but could be in reverse, after backing into spot??? Way back when I had a 60 Strato Chief "more door" 6 auto for about a month, used 2 quarts of oil on the starter motor, and the rest of oil in 4 blocks, there wasn't a bug in the area after I crawled by!!!!!

That's what you get for owning a 6, you should have ripped it out, thrown it away and put in a "W" engine or small block with a stick!

They become a "House of horrors" once they are mounted on a vehicle. Who who who, i ask who in their right mind would think these monstrosity's look good on a vintage car. I say go seek some professional mental help with that illness. biggrin

I think those wheels look awesome. I wouldn't do it, but they really impart a certain modern/vintage look to the car. I feel they really highlight the body.

They might be extreme, but C'mon lets be honest, to the opposite view, the puny stock wheels with the Pontiac body/Chevy chassis can look pretty silly on this gen as well.

Agreed but having them on there would be very fitting for such an original car as this, don't you think?

Have to agree with Carl on that one.  There are some cars that I like bigger wheels on but I like original wheels on original cars.

And, just my opinion, anything bigger than 17 or 18 inch are just too big.  Unless you're buying expensive lightweight forged aluminum wheels that allow you to have a thinner structure with equivalent strength, big wheels 20" and over are not only aesthetically out of proportion, but also add so much unsprung weight as to have a negative effect on the ride and handling of the vehicle, unless the suspension was originally tuned for it.  In other words, I'm sure this old 6 cyl Pontiac rides and drives better with good ol' 14 inch steelies than the monsterously heavy 20s and 22s that are with it.

And, to add icing to the cake, I'm not a fan of creating "patina" by sanding off areas of the paint and letting them rust.  Call me old school, but in my day that was lazy bodywork, where somebody started a backyard body job and couldn't be bothered to cover up the bare steel with a coat of paint when they were done, to at least protect it until the next time they could work on it.

Now, after all that negativity - I do really really like that car, and hope the next owner will give it the respect it deserves... :)

This car has a brutal take on faux patina.disbelief The owner is blind.

Cool car...but wheels are ghetto......and gotta GO.....as does the phoney patina..

Part of the charm of X-frame Canadian Pontiacs...is the narrow track.....and skinny 14" wheels/tires...complete with the "big six"......or 2bbl 283's
