Spotted in New Zealand - 58 Bel Air RHD

I wasn't with our shoppers this day but on my behalf, they took these photos of a 58 Chev Bel Air at a grocery store in Twizel on the South Island of New Zealand.

We used to build them over here in Australia RHD. They were mostly CKD cars with some local content. I had a '57 sedan 210, they used Australian Leather trim and carpet and painted in Australian colours.

We had Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac etc from the early days right through until 1968 (still sold new into 1970). They were mostly Canadian spec. My '57 had a '55-56 dash.

It has always been amazing to see those Aussie 57 Chevy's with 55-56 Chevy dashes. A real neat hybrid.

They did good Kim. That 58 was first registered in NZ on 14-Oct- 1958. Some farmer must have had a good wool cheque that year.

Wow, great to hear the history. What an amazing car. I wish I had seen it myself and talked to the owner
