Part identification / applications help required

I found this in a box of parts . It is obviously cruise control , but it has a column gear selector application rather than on the directional signal lever. Does anyone know what years / models these were found on ?

The handle sure looks like the original cruise control turn signal lever from the 70 454 Laurentian.  It's in the top right of the photo.   So it's of that era.

Looks similar to 67 Impala but I'm not so sure it's that.

Andrew will know if it's 67 or not. Early piece for sure.

Yes , what's odd is that it is the gearshift lever with the cruise control button ( not the turn signal lever). I do not believe I've ever seen this before ...

Oh shoot, I missed that. I was thinking that was two different parts in those pictures. I take it all back!

Just a thought and i may be way way off, but might it have something to to with RHD cars?

That would be perfect to control a line lock in a column shifted car.

Pretty fancy, might be a Cadillac or olds or Buick?

I'm guessing that's it's not for cruise control, but maybe for something else.

Maybe to lock the tranny for trailer towing, something like that?

I love a good mystery, so I did a little sleuthing. According to the link, it's a washer wiper switch.

I'd say the problem is solved.

Howmac, it's hard to see in your photo, but is the button there?   Maybe it's just black.

I replaced the original cruise control turn signal lever in the 70 454 Laurentian as the button had popped out and was missing.

For 1970, Canadian Pontiac's had an option called Electro-Tip Wiper-Washer control, that looks like it was the same option as Oldsmobile. On Pontiac's, it was a button on the end of the turn signal switch. As such, you could get either Automatic Cruise Control, or Electro-Tip, not both.

I'm guessing that your lever was 1970 Oldsmobile's attempt to provide both Cruise Control and Washer/Wiper Control options on their car.

My pleasure. I knew nothing of it, either.
