Switching to Electric Vehicles Will Ruin Our Roads Without a Gas Tax Replacement....

https://www.thedrive.com/news/32810/switching-to-electric-vehicles-will-ruin-our-roads-without-a-gas-tax-replacement

Question, Without gas tax where will the money come from to repair roads if all cars are electric?

Let's face it,they will build a tax somewhere or have toll roads whenever you start driving.

We have gas taxes but we dont have good roads. I dont think our gas taxes are really connected directly to keeping up roads, it spite of what is being said when we have a gas tax increase. Could get interesting to see how the taxes will get charged on electric cars. Gas tax is a pay as you go thing, every time you fill up, you pay tax. Hard to figure that out with electricity?
We are getting a taste of the clean air wed have though?

On top of that we have been subsidizing electric vehicles for years already.

... but only a taste. I heard a scientist the other day say that it would take 30 years of these current conditions to undo what we've done.

I don't think that any of us have to worry about electric vehicles taking over. That will happen,  but not in our life time. Plus vehicles without drivers will be few and far in between in our life time.

I used to say that, but now I'm not so sure.  There have been many large movements within the industry that indicate otherwise...

As far as gas tax petering out, don't worry, our government has become quite skilled at taxing us.  They will find a source for the money...

Gas tax seems to go to "general revenue" and 'pi$$ed" away on other things, in these "trying" times & Governments both Federal & Provincial spending BILLIONS, I don't the condition of roads is top priority at the moment
