My next restoration project (eventually, not now)

You guys are a bad influence. Reading that mini bike thread the other day got me all worked up about my ST90 so I dug it out today and started to look it over to see what will be needed.

History--- I found some details on it tonight. I bought it brand new on June 7th 1974 right here in Morris from the little Honda dealer we had. It was expensive, $240 plus PST!

It hasn't run in likely close to 20 years but was stored well and still turns over, you know the Kijiji saying..........."ran when parked"!

You tricked me the other night when you posted a pristine example of this. Nice little bike.

Thanks a lot Carl. Now I'm going to have to get a project bike.

That thing is sweet! And the beauty of Honda, is you should be able to get pretty much everything mechanical from the dealer. and all the rest on line.

But that bike doesn't look like it needs much at all, it looks to be in great shape!

Sorry, when I said a twin I didn't mean a cosmetic twin!

I'm pretty sure when I look at them online that even though it's not pristine, I could likely at least double my original investment from 1974!

Carl buys a B body Canadian Poncho post and swaps engines along with doing an "original" 4 speed conversion.

 Mark "  "  "  " .......................................................................................................................................!

Carl says time to restore a 46 year old Honda.

Mark  "      "     ".............. ...........old bike!

So if Carl says he's gonna go jump off a cliff................... (did mothers actually ask their kids that?)

You betcha. I licensed it the day I bought it and drove it that summer, back and forth to work etc from the farm, about 4 miles each way. Comfortable cruising speed is only about 40 mph though. I did have it up to 55 one day back then, vicious tail wind and my head down between the handlebars! I don't think I licensed it ever again after that and just rode it out in the country, back roads etc.

Oh, you were the rich kid down the street that could afford all the cool toys! I was pumping gas for $1.25/hr to pay for my ST90.....! (seriously)

I can't believe what they are going for even unrestored. Guess a lot of guys like us are looking back on those days now.

You do know you'll have to document the whole thing now Carl.

I hate to say it guys but teenagers look good on a Honda 90 but old men do not.

In a related story I took my Honda 250 rebel to town a year or so ago and some young guy sort of mentioned as I got off the bike, "Getting a little big for that bike eh?" That kinda hurt.

Actually, other than the seat upholstery it looks like it's in great shape.  Doesn't look like any paint or decals will be needed, just a mechanical rebuild, a cleanup and fix the seat.

What I can't understand is how Carl will work on it.  I don't see a GM badge on it anywhere... biggrin
