Cover those plants - Polar Vortex To Bring Record Cold To Ontario, Quebec This Weekend (May 8,2020)

https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/polar-vortex-ontario-quebec_ca_5eb414dbc5b6526942a319df?utm_hp_ref=ca-homepage

A polar vortex is heading towards Ontario and Quebec,

potentially bringing snow showers and record-setting cold to Eastern Canada,

just in time for Mothers Day.

Environment Canada is projecting a low of -4 C for Toronto overnight Friday

into Saturday morning, which would break the lowest temperature record for May 9

of -2.2 C, which was set in 1966.

My mosquito magnet had an error code flashing this morning. I think it was because it got too cold overnight (-2c). I shut it off for the time being...

We planted a bunch of stuff last weekend. I tried to tell my wife it is foolish to plant before May 24th.

If you have patio planter boxes, are they safe if you just bring them under a carport, and set them alongside the house wall?

Or should they be brought right inside?

Ya, I remember May two-four as the benchmark in Ontario. Here it is June.

I'm told here in PEI it's safe to plant after the last full moon in June (which is the 5th).

I planted seed potatoes and a few beans last week. Right now, it's snowing....lol

Not too worried, they haven't broke through yet.

I got up early to feed the kitten, then looked outside to see snow covering the ground. Last night I did move the potted plants under a cove and covered them and the others in the ground. Funny, a month ago it looked like spring was here to stay, but I delayed switching over to my summer tires. I did that this week...

I saw ice pellets coming down on Saturday May 9. In my 61 years on earth, i have never seen this kind of weather in May. My mom of 85 years said that this happened back in 1961.
