Paint job after an embarassing mishap. Also, body shop recommendation

Hi all,

I haven't mentioned a little embarrassing mishap I had with the car, one day before I put it into storage last fall.
Needless to say, I was going to get it fixed first thing this spring. The fella that painted the whole car for me about
10 years ago wasn't available, so I went looking for a shop here in London.

After lots of investigation and appraisals I picked a place called "Rich Refinishing Auto Body" out near the airport.
I just got the car back today and I'm very happy and would highly recommend this shop for anyone local.

The first pic is of the damage after my mishap and the next pic is after getting it fixed.
What looks like imperfections in the paint is just reflections off the driveway.  His blending is perfect.

There is also a couple of extra pics of some of the long-running project he's got going on in the shop. He was surprised when
I guessed the make and year of the Lemans.

That must be a load of your mind Scott. Nice blend.

Did they have to custom mix the colour to match? Or was it straight from the book?

Very nice! I never heard of this shop when I lived in the area. Must be fairly new?

Never even saw the wall art.

Thinking that we have all been there.

Great to hear of a positive out come.

The paint was right off the shelf. It's a GM colour called Aqua Metallic, used in the early 80's.

It's quite close to the 68 Tripoli Turquoise Metallic.

I missed that your car suffered a minor mishap. Ugh, you must have been sick after it happened. At least the repair is fine and you are back.

There are advantages to going with off-the-shelf paint when painting a car.

See my comment on the 74 LeMans 400 4 speed. You need bags of money and huge Kahoonas.

I feel your pain. A bit over a year ago I had a little incident inside the shop at our dealership with our daily driver G8. Most shops said $1500 to repair the nice scratch down both right doors (corner of a snow blade on a quad). My co-worker does paint and body at home, it was repaired for about 1/2 that in March. It felt very good to write that cheque and not have to see that reminder any more. It's only money (and pride!)

Exactly. I was really impressed with Rich (the owner), the quality of the repair and the fair price. I recommend it.
