I'll have to take this whole site with a grain of salt.....without telling who did the work or where

you have to question if any of these cars are actually the same cars, before and after.

They did some amazing rebuilds...turning the 4 door 56 into a two door 55...great work.

car-restoration-7.jpg

Lotsa work turning a 1970 Formula Firebird into a Trans Am

car-restoration-8.jpg

Here's another..spot the difference in this "restoration"

Restored-Cars-PA-8.jpg

Changing this 4 door Buick hardtop to a 2 door convertible was amazing

There are a lot of nice saves in that article, like all those Mopar E-body cars. I could see somebody checking the fender tags and rebuilding around it.

The Porsches in the article do seem like legit saves.

As for the other pictures in the article they sure are taking some major liberties with the before & after photos. For instance:

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/29/

Not even remotely the same car! Neither one is a 1944 for that matter.

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/25/

They show a 1980 280ZX beater, then a 1973 240Z, uh, ok maybe... Buyer beware!

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/31/

They turned a 1956 210-series 4-door into a 1955 210 2-door? They didn't say it was the same car, and neither one is a Bel Air as stated.

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/32/

The rotting car is a 1971 Formula with 1971-only louvered fender vents, the restored car is a '70 Trans Am? Could be, but high-back buckets are a tip-off to a 1971. Bottom line, check the title on any purchase to make sure it isn't a rebuilt wreck.

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/37/

It has a '71 steering wheel so it may be a 1st year Super Beetle, but before & after show a '72 hood (or 71+ convertible hood).

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/38/

So they restored a 1941 panel into a 1941 flatbed? Something is fishy...

Some of the cars described as being destined for the junkyard, well no, actually some of those saves were actually solid cars that needed TLC.

Like this '70 Judge:
https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/42/

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/43/

That Love Bug is actually a '73 Super Beetle, not a '72 as listed. Big difference between a 72 & 73  (windshield, dash, hood, valence, tail lights). There actually was a '74 Love Bug that was based on the standard beetle with sport wheels, blacked-out trim and either bright red or Ravena Green (yellowish chartruse) paint.

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/45/
Now this '74 Trans Am I DO believe is the same car.

1985 Grand National. Nobody would let one get to that shape, would they? Unless it was stolen and / or has title issues. IMHO may have been stolen, and for the desirable Grand National parts to supplant lesser parts in another G-bodies.

https://drivepedia.com/trending/restored-cars-tb/50/
I can speculate that these high-end vehicle that are rotting in China were probably victims of an international theft ring.

35 cars that were left to rot eh? I reached 52 cars before I gave up on that article...

You would be amazed. Around 1990 I was shopping for an 86-87 GN repairable wreck. I looked at one in South Dakota with 22,000 miles on it. T-top car. All 4 tires down to the cords, sitting out in a fenced compound, T-tops missing, and looked liked it had sat through the winter like that. No effort made to seal out the weather. Sad.... no
