I have been to Stephens a couple of times, the last time about 2007. There were a lot of 60s cars there, mostly parts cars due to rust. A couple that I remember were a 51 or 2 Pontiac sedan delivery, very rusty and a 1960 to 62 Falcon sedan delivery. An old drag car complete with straight axle. It was repairable, I wonder if anyone saved it.
One time I was there and a young man had removed a piece of plastic trim from a Mustang. The agreed upon price was $10. The customer asked if he would take $5 for it seeing that he had pulled it off himself. The owner asked to look at it and then threw it in the wood stove. He said if its not worth $10 to you then its not worth it to me either. The look on the young mans face was priceless. The owner was quite a character.
There were problems back then from the Ministry of the Environment. Stephens was ordered to restore the wetlands on the property. They had been filled in in the sixties to make the yard bigger. I think that was the beginning of the end for the auto wrecker.
